History

Brewing started in 1898 as Highgate Brewery. In 1939 it was taken over by Mitchells & Butler and eventually became part of Bass. Having been under threat of closure for several years it was purchased by a management buyout in 1995. Taken over during 2000 by Aston Manor. It was sold again to pub company Global Star in July 2007. The brewery was taken over again in 2012 and the name changed to its current Davenports. The brewery closed at the beginning of 2015.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website. For historical information, we suggest you also visit the brewery page on the unfortunately no longer updated Beermad.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover all areas possibilities: Ceremonial Counties which are the counties for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed, Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation and Local Authority which represents the third tear District level.
