History
Brewing started in May 1997. The 5BBL plant was located in an 18th-century hop kiln. The brewery closed in 2001 but reopened under new ownership as The Mayfields Brewery in 2005.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
