History

This brewery started in August 1995 in an old dairy. The brewer, Martin Barry, was previously at Snowdonia Brewery. A 2½ barrel brewlength plant was assembled from old dairy equipment. Many bottle conditioned ales are brewed. Brewing ceased in late 1997 due to financial problems but the brewery was rescued and brewing recommenced in January 1998 and the brewery was increased to a 10 barrel plant.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website and we suggest you also visit the entry for Salopian Brewing Company Ltd on the independant www.beermad.org.uk.

Directions

Turn left from Shrewsbury railway station and turn first right into Smithfield Road. Follow the road as it continues into Mardol Quay. Turn right onto Frankwell and cross the river. At the roundabout take the first exit to the right, Copthorne Road, and continue along here for about three quarters of a mile. Continue straight on at the roundabout, onto Mytton Oak Road and the brewery is about a quarter of a mile further on.

Footnote - Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover both possibilities; Ceremonial Counties which are the areas for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed; and Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation.
