Summerskills Brewery

History

Brewing started in 1983, based on the owner's vineyard near to Bigbury-on-Sea, Kingsbridge. A 2½ barrel brewplant was used, which was soon expanded to a 4 barrel plant. In 1985 a move to the current location was completed, and the plant was increased to a 10 barrel plant by using the redundant equipment from Penrhos. In 1989 the brewery closed, but after standing idle for about 18 months was reopened by new owners in October 1990.
