History
When opened in 1984 this brewery traded under the name Barrons Brewery. Initially a 3 barrel self-built plant was used located on a farm. In 1991, an additional partner was taken on and the name changed to Exe Valley. Over the years the plant was expanded in a haphazard manner and became a 7½ barrel plant. In 1994 a new 15 barrel plant was commissioned to replace the existing brewery, this also being converted from non-brewing vessels. The beers take advantage of the breweries own spring water.

Footnote - Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover both possibilities; Ceremonial Counties which are the areas for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed; and Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation.
