History

Matthew Brown started brewing in 1830 based at Pole St, Preston. After taking over Nuttall & Sons they relocated to Nuttalls brewery in Blackburn in 1927. Following a failed take over attempt in the early 1980, they were taken over by Scottish & Newcastle in 1987. The brewery closed in 1991 with production of Matthew Brown brands being relocated to Home Brewery in Nottingham and on it&'s closure to Mansfield.
