Brewing started in Summer 1979 in a shed behind the Mandeville Arms. Hazelbury Plunkett, Yeovil and moved to its final address in Spring 1984. Brewing ceased in 1988 when the plant was purchased to form Axminster Brewery.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
