History

Brewing started in 1999 following to demise of the Solstice Brewing Company based at the same location behind The Queen's Head, Bridge Street, Kington. The brewery has had a number of earlier existences dating back to 1987 when for a short period it was based at the Old Royal George, Lingen, Herefordshire. In 1992 it reappeared, based at the Black Horse, Leominster before moving to Kington and becoming Solstice. At the beginning of 2002, it took over SP Sporting Ales Ltd moving the plant to the new location as above. During Summer 2002 brewing ceased at the Queen's Head. Ceased brewing at the end of 2008, with the plant sold to Golden Valley Ales.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website. For historical information, we suggest you also visit the brewery page on the unfortunately no longer updated Beermad.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover all areas possibilities: Ceremonial Counties which are the counties for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed, Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation and Local Authority which represents the third tear District level.
