History

Brewing started in 1985 based in a 200 year old stone barn on a farm at Dollarfield, Dollar, Clackmannanshire. Production required an increase in capacity, this was provided by the 10 barrel brewplant formerly at Devanaha in 1991. A further move was carried out in early 2004 to their current address, in line with a expansion of plant to a 50 barrel brewlength. The original 10 barrel plant was sold to Purple Moose. Taken over by Caledonian in January 2006. Following Caledonian's take over by S&N in April 2008, the company became fully independent again.

Footnote - Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover both possibilities; Ceremonial Counties which are the areas for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed; and Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation.
