History
Brewing started in 1978. A management buyout in 1991 resulted in the company rapidly expanding to own 17 pubs. Most of these pubs have now been sold as the business once more concentrated on brewing. Taken over again in late 2003. Underwent a restructuring late in 2004 which resulted in brewing being contracted out by a new Smiles Brewing Co Ltd to Highgate. The brewing equipment was removed from the old Brewery Tap which is now owned by Butcombe.
