Founded in 1778 and taken over by Henry Boddington in 1853. It was acquired by The Whitbread Beer Company in 1989. Following the recent takeovers it was now the only major cask brewery for AB Inbev UK Limited. The brewery brewed for the last time on 4th February 2005 and cask beer was last brewed under contract by Hydes' Brewery Ltd in about 2015 and only pasteurised keg beer now exists brewed at Budwesier Brewing UK (Magor).
