History
Brewing started in September 1996 using the name Sandown Brewery following the closure of Burts Newport Brewery. Soon afterwards the name was changed to Burts. The brewery was brought by Ushers in March 1998 and brewing ceased soon afterwards.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
