History
Brewery opened at Easter 1984 to provide beers for the only pub on the island. The 2½ barrel brewplant produced malt-extract beers. The brewery closed during the winter months when the tourist trade dropped off. At the end of the 1992 season the brewery was relocated on the island but brewing did not recommence until 1994 as the island was a suffering a severe water shortage. Brewing ceased during 1995, once again due to a water shortage and this time the brewery shut. The brewplant was transported to the mainland and was used for the Country Life brewery.

Footnote - Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover both possibilities; Ceremonial Counties which are the areas for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed; and Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation.
