History

Brewery opened at Easter 1984 to provide beers for the only pub on the island. The 2½BBL plant produced malt-extract beers. The brewery closed during the Winter months when the tourist trade dropped off. At the end of the 1992 season, the brewery was relocated on the island but brewing did not recommence until 1994 as the island was suffering a severe water shortage. Brewing ceased in 1995, once again due to a water shortage and this time the brewery shut. The plant was transported to the mainland and was used for the Country Life Brewery.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website. For historical information, we suggest you also visit the brewery page on the unfortunately no longer updated Beermad.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover all areas possibilities: Ceremonial Counties which are the counties for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed, Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation and Local Authority which represents the third tear District level.
