History

Originally founded in 1780 and acquired by Daniel Higson in 1875 this brewery brewed at a number of sites in Liverpool before moving to Cain's brewery when they merged with Walkers of Warrington. They were taken over by Boddingtons in 1985. In 1990 the brewery was closed and production moved to Manchester. The brewery was sold to the become the current Cains brewery. Under the ownership of Whitbread, production was switched to Castle Eden before production of the brand ceased in 1999. A new company was formed in 2005 to brew a recreation of the original beer.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website. For historical information, we suggest you also visit the brewery page on the unfortunately no longer updated Beermad.
