History

Brewing started at this site in 1884. The brewery was taken over by Bass Brewers in 1968. Brewing continued under their control until 1999 when the brewery was purchased by Brains who moved into the plant. Hancocks branded beers were brewed by Coors Brewers at their Burton plant under license from Interbrew UK. In about 2016 production moved back to Brains.

Beers Brewed

We do not maintain a list of beers brewed by each brewery. There may be a list on the brewery's own website. For historical information, we suggest you also visit the brewery page on the unfortunately no longer updated Beermad.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover all possibilities: Ceremonial Counties which are the areas for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed, Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation and Local Authority which represents the third tear District level.
